Hello, witches! Did you know Substack has a chat feature? Well it does! I’ll be using this chat to share quick updates and occasional prompts. In turn, I’m happy to answer questions or take suggestions.
First up, there’s a message in the chat thread right now about the new Pick Your Potions Witching Hour happy hour series, launching March 22! Every happy hour comes with a short story and a creative prompt derived from the text. Read, write, drink (the Witching Hour is BYOP—bring your own potion!) and make magic. For our initial Witching Hour, we’re reading “Help Me Follow My Sister into the Land of the Dead” by Carmen Maria Machado. Tickets are $10.
To join the chat, just download the Substack app, which works with iOS and Android. Chats are sent through the app, not via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss anything!

Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
